FAQs for Consigners

Q: Why should I consign my valuable goods to M-pire, rather than one of the auction services?

A:  When you go with M-pire Auctions, you remain in control. There are no disappointing low bids - you get your price, or nothing at all. We are not going to take your items for a song. You can go with an auctioneer and accept who-knows-what final bid, or you can go with M-pire where you can ask for - and get - what you think your items are worth.

Q: Why would someone pay M-pire to sell their goods on eBay, if they could do it themselves?

A:  Good question. Well, it turns out there are a lot of reasons. For every successful eBay seller, there are a lot of people who can't figure out how to sell effectively or profitabely on eBay. Selling effectively on eBay requires knowledge of sales and marketing strategies unique to the eBay marketplace. Our experience, established credibility, and reputation on eBay is a big advantage. This can be a huge challenge for beginners.

Q: What kind of items can I sell?

A:  M-pire can help you sell just about any item. What sells on eBay? Pretty much anything! Art, antiques, collectibles, real estate, retail goods, industrial equipment, and automobiles are just a few of the categories of eBay goods. Keep in mind eBay has a few rules that must be followed.

Q: Can I price my own goods or put a minimum selling price on it?

A:  We determine the retail price on all consigned merchandise. We have many years of experience in pricing hundreds of items each week. Due to the high volume of customers, weekly markdowns are necessary. This allows each piece to find the correct retail price and consignors ar epaid more quickly. We view each consignment as a partnership. It is in everyone's interest to price items at a fair market value.

Q: Are there any price and weight requirements?

A:  We only accept items weighing less than 75 pounds and that will sell for a value estimated at over $50. Items must be able to be shipped by UPS or the U.S. Postal Service.

Q: What happens if the buyer doesn't pay for my item ?

A:  We do not ship anything until payment is recieved. In the rare case that a buyer doesn't pay for an item, we will file a Non-Paying Bidder report with eBay and relist your item for free.

Q: Can someone come to my home and look at my items, price them, and pick them up?

A:  Yes. There is a free pick-up avaliable for your convenience within 5 miles. Although, for Pick-up we would need to see photos first to make sure the items will sell well here. At the time of pick-up, a consignment manager will come to your house to price your items. We will take them and bring them to our location.

Q: If I pay the pick-up fee but I am not happy with the prices quoted, do I get my money back?

A:  There is a pick-up fee for distances more than 5 miles. The fee you pay covers the time involved for the consignment manager to arrive to your home and evaluate items. After he arrives at your home, and the overall evaluation of your photos we will have an idea if the trip will be worthwhile for you, although there is no guarantee until we see the actual items. For these reasons, the pick-up fee would not be refundable.

Q: What if my item does not sell?

A:  If your item does not sell we will re-list the item at no extra charge. If after this listing the item does not sell you choose to pick it up at our location within 2 weeks of the auction close or we can donate it a charity of your choice.
